‘I am a stage. I am a stage in the outside world.’
Premiering at Dublin Theatre Festival 2010 565+ is about survival. There comes a time in all our lives when we look for help, when we reach crisis, when we will try anything that helps. For some it is therapy, for others it is medication. For Marie O’Rourke it is the theatre.
Marie O’Rourke is a school teacher who began attending the theatre seven years ago on the advice of her doctor. Since then she has seen over 565 plays. Marie credits the theatre with saving her life.

The Irish Times
“An extraordinarily uplifting experience to witness”

Irish Theatre Magazine
“In 565+ (Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival 2010) McKevitt finds a self-reflexive potential for performance in the avidity of her aunt’s theatre-going – for each performance the ordering of the story is remade – and we discover ourselves seeing with our ears, listening with our eyes to the text of Marie.”

Entertainment.ie
“The disease takes control of every aspect of this production in the same subtle way it creeps into every corner of a person's life and while the theatre lover might long to have their passion explored, this wasn't so much a cathartic experience for me, as an expositional one...but it's a smarter production than it's more freewheeling presentation lets on.”
